NWNHS has had a long association with the archaeological dig at Sedgeford. As well as regular visits to the dig and to the old air field at Sedgeford, we have financed DNA research on two unusual burials which provided some surprising findings; sponsored a one off eventing talk; and even had one our members joining in an experiment involving smelting of local materials trying to replicate what may have some three millennials ago. Here is a link to their site and we would encourage you to look at the list of talks at Sedgeford church which are always very stimulating. See Notes on Cooperation.

Short Talk and Discussion
Have you ever wondered about the origins of our Christmas Traditions – plum puddings, chocolate logs, decorated trees, cards, stockings, mistletoe, holly, ivy, pantomimes -and where do those running deer come in?
Lucinda Sells will offer some historical explanations and evidence -and you are more than welcome to add your own understanding of this oldest of winter festivals.
Weather permitting, we will do some traditional carolling -singing and dancing in a circle, outdoors (please wear suitable clothes and shoes)!
Lunch -or please let us know about special requirements:
Grilled fillet of plaice, Brancaster mussel, leek and saffron broth, confit potatoes
Biscotti, Beauvale Blue cheese, Stanhoe plum
£22 per person excluding wine and coffee.
Hoping you can join us – please reply as soon as possible, and no later than 1st December.
